GAERY BARBERY

Gaery has been a chiropractor for over 25 years. He became interested in chiropractic after being successfully treated as a child for severe headaches by his family’s chiropractor. Graduating from the RMIT Bachelor of Applied Science chiropractic program, he then worked and trained in Northern Ireland and Oxford, England for 10 years before returning to Australia and set up in Indooroopilly in 1999.

Currently, Gaery is pursuing a PhD in Sports Injury Prevention with the Australian Centre for Research into injury in Sports and its Prevention (ACRISP), which is only one of four designated International Olympic Committee (IOC) centres for research into the prevention of injury and protection of athlete health around the world.

Gaery has become a highly qualified practitioner with numerous postgraduate studies including a Postgraduate Diploma in Neuromusculoskeletal Rehabilitation from Murdoch University and a Master of Public Health from the University of Queensland.Gaery also has qualifications including McKenzie Method, International Sports Science Diploma (FICS), Certified in Active Release Technique, Kinesiotaping, and Functional Movement Screen (FMS).

Throughout his career, Gaery has been dedicated in providing “state of the art” natural pain relief treatments, to those with acute or chronic musculoskeletal pain.

Gaery has had the privilege of studying under such people as Prof Paul Hodges, Prof Valdmir Janda, Prof Gwendolen Jull, Prof Karel Lewit, Assoc Prof Pavel Kolar, Prof Stuart McGill, David Butler, Craig Liebenson, Michael Shacklock, some of the worlds leading authorities in the field of musculoskeletal rehabilitation. This pursuit of knowledge has equipped him with a range of clinical skills to manage patients with musculoskeletal injuries, whether they are due to overuse, sports, motor vehicle, or work related injuries.

His practice specialises in treating people of all ages who are suffering from acute and chronic musculoskeletal pain and providing education so that they are able to self manage their health and avoid injury in the future.
